Karan Steuart is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC). She began working at Denver Metro Counseling in August 2019. Karan holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Denver and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Metropolitan State University with an emphasis in Addiction Studies.
Karan has worked in the field of drug and alcohol counseling with adolescents and adults since 2004 in correctional and residential treatment settings providing group, individual, and family therapy. She has worked with individuals and families as they transition back to the community. Karan is currently the Head of High School Mental Health Counseling at a private school and offers supports to students with learning disabilities and mental health concerns, their parents, and staff.
Karan works with teens, adults, and parents using empathy, compassion, and empowerment. She recognizes the need for supporting individuals struggling with substance abuse, ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, and school challenges. She has received training in EMDR and uses this approach with clients to help them when appropriate.
In addition to her focus on helping teens and young adults who are in the process of recovery, she offers her services and skills to assist parents and family members inevitably affected during the progression.
Karan uses a trauma-informed, mindfulness, and strengths-based approach to working with her clients.
